This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how subscriptions, cancellations, missed lessons and refunds work for Sqool Tutors.
By subscribing to Sqool Tutors, you agree to the terms set out below, subject to any rights you may have under applicable South African law.
Sqool Tutors offers tutoring subscriptions at R359 per month, which includes 2 tutoring sessions per week.
Subscriptions are recurring subscriptions and the monthly fee is automatically charged using the payment method provided when you subscribe.
Your subscription will continue and renew automatically each month unless you cancel it before your next billing date.
You may cancel your subscription at any time before your next billing date.
To cancel your subscription, please send a cancellation request to our support email address.
If your cancellation is received before your next billing date, you will not be charged for the following subscription period.
Cancellation does not normally affect access to services that have already been paid for during the current billing period.
Any cancellation rights provided to consumers under applicable South African law remain unaffected by this policy.
If you cancel your subscription during an active billing period, you may request a pro rata refund for the unused portion of that subscription period.
For example, if you have paid R359 for a month and cancel partway through that month, Sqool Tutors may calculate the refund based on the unused portion of the subscription period.
Any lessons already provided during the relevant billing period will be taken into account when calculating the refund.
Refund requests must be submitted by email.
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled tutoring session, the student will generally not be entitled to a cash refund for that missed session.
Where available, the student may instead access a recorded version of the lesson.
Students are responsible for accessing the recorded lesson where one is provided.
Tutoring sessions are provided subject to tutor availability.
Students and parents acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally occur that prevent a tutor from being available for a scheduled session.
Such circumstances may include illness, emergencies, technical problems, personal emergencies or other circumstances outside the tutor's reasonable control.
By subscribing to Sqool Tutors, you acknowledge and accept that occasional tutor unavailability may occur.
Where a tutor is unavailable, Sqool Tutors will use reasonable efforts to manage the situation and, where appropriate, provide access to an available recording or another reasonable solution.
Nothing in this section limits any rights a consumer may have under applicable South African consumer protection law.
Sqool Tutors may offer one free trial lesson to prospective students.
The free trial does not automatically create a paid subscription unless the student or parent subsequently signs up for the paid subscription.
A customer is generally limited to one free trial unless Sqool Tutors agrees otherwise.
All refund requests must be submitted by email.
The request should include:
• Student's full name
• Parent or guardian's name, where applicable
• Email address associated with the subscription
• Reason for the refund request
• Relevant payment or subscription information
Sqool Tutors will review the request and determine the applicable refund in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
Where a refund is approved, the refund will generally be processed back to the original payment method used for the subscription, where reasonably possible.
If you believe that you have been charged incorrectly, charged more than once, or charged after successfully cancelling your subscription, please contact Sqool Tutors by email as soon as possible.
We will investigate the payment and, where an incorrect or duplicate charge is confirmed, process the appropriate refund.
Students may request to change their tutor without cancelling their subscription.
Tutor changes are subject to tutor availability and Sqool Tutors may need reasonable time to arrange an alternative tutor.
Changing tutors does not automatically cancel the student's subscription.
This policy is intended to operate alongside applicable South African consumer protection laws.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, restrict or waive any right or remedy that a consumer is entitled to under applicable law.
Where applicable, statutory cancellation, cooling off, refund, service quality and other consumer rights will continue to apply.
South Africa's Consumer Protection Act provides specific consumer rights relating to cancellation and cooling off in certain circumstances, including certain direct marketing transactions.
For cancellations, refund requests or questions regarding this policy, please contact Sqool Tutors by email.
